What are Resource Families?

Our kinship caregivers, traditional and therapeutic foster families, and pre-adoptive families (collectively known as “Resource Families”) are “anchors” for children in DCYF care. The Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) partners with Rhode Island residents, community leaders and organizations to recruit a diverse pool of individuals who can BE AN ANCHOR for children and families involved in Rhode Island’s child welfare system. Community support is critical to ensuring that a child can be cared for in a safe and reliable family setting that is well supported and able to care for the child’s individual needs.
